Built on Ingenuity
Founded in 1976 as a subsidiary of Wikström International A.B. of Sweden, Byggwik began with a clear focus: the construction of high-quality storage tanks rooted in Scandinavian engineering standards.
The economic downturn of the 1980s forced the industry to adapt. With new tank construction largely halted, repair and life-extension became essential. Byggwik responded by rethinking conventional methods, adapting tank jacking techniques to allow full floor replacement on existing tanks. This innovation led to the creation of the Byggwik base repair system.
The system’s early development was tested under demanding conditions, resulting in critical challenges which drove further refinement. The result was a robust, reliable solution that has remained fundamentally unchanged ever since.
As markets recovered and demand for new tankage returned, Byggwik’s expertise and reputation grew. This period of expansion culminated in 2008 with the successful construction of three of the largest storage tanks ever built using the jacking method, setting new standards for what was possible.
